Fruit Shell Activated Carbon Complete Production Process From Raw Material Screening to Activation Molding

The whole production of fruit shell activated carbon follows standardized technological processes. It starts with raw material screening and purification, removing inferior raw materials first to ensure uniform texture and strength. Then pretreatment procedures such as crushing, cleaning, drying and carbonization are carried out in sequence. The carbonization stage initially forms the basic pore structure, laying a solid foundation for subsequent adsorption performance. Every production process is strictly controlled to stabilize finished product quality from the source.

The first step is strict screening of fruit shell raw materials. After entering the factory, the material passes through a vibrating screen to remove dust and fine particles, followed by manual and optical sorting to remove defective shells. This step, though seemingly basic, determines the purity and consistency of the final product.

The dried fruit shells are fed into vertical or rotary carbonization furnaces at 400–600°C under oxygen-limited conditions. During this process, volatile matter is removed, forming a preliminary porous carbon skeleton. The carbonized material—which we call "char"—already has initial strength and pore structure, but its adsorption capacity is not yet fully developed.

To turn char into true activated carbon, it must go through activation. We use steam activation, injecting superheated steam into the activation furnace at 800–950°C. The steam reacts with the carbon, etching out a large number of micropores and mesopores, resulting in a huge specific surface area (typically 1000–1300 m²/g).  This stage is the technical core of the entire production line.

The activated carbon can be further processed according to customer requirements. For granular carbon, we directly screen and package it. For cylindrical or crushed carbon, a suitable binder is added, followed by extrusion granulation or crushing and screening, then re-drying. Every batch is tested in our lab for iodine value, hardness, moisture, and ash content before being released for shipment.

From raw fruit shell intake to finished activated carbon shipment, each step directly affects the final product's adsorption performance, hardness, and service life. As a professional activated carbon manufacturer, we insist on transparent production and quality traceability.
