The "gold" in its name doesn't mean it's made of gold; rather, it signifies its primary application in the gold mining industry for extracting gold from ore.

Gold Activated Carbon is distinguished by several unique properties that make it indispensable:

  • High Hardness and Abrasion Resistance: It is manufactured to withstand the aggressive, abrasive conditions inside gold processing plants, minimizing carbon loss due to attrition.

How is Gold Activated Carbon Made?

The production process is meticulous, ensuring the final product meets stringent quality standards.

  1. Raw Material Selection: High-quality raw materials like coconut shell or hard coal are chosen for their inherent density and carbon content.

  2. Carbonization: The material is heated in an oxygen-deficient environment to remove volatile components, creating a fixed carbon structure.

  3. Activation: This is the most critical step. The carbonized material is exposed to steam or chemical agents at high temperatures (800-1100°C). This process etches millions of tiny pores into the carbon, dramatically increasing its surface area, which can reach over 1000 square meters per gram.

  4. Screening and Quality Control: The final product is screened to specific size ranges (e.g., 6×12 or 4×8 mesh) and rigorously tested for hardness, density, and adsorption capacity.
